Michelin North America Inc. has launched a new commercial truck tire for line-haul steer applications – the Michelin X Line Energy Z.
The SmartWay-verified tire replaces Michelin’s XZA3+ tire and offers 5% better rolling resistance and features a new, ultra-fuel-efficient casing, the tiremaker said.
Featuring a patented dual-energy compound tread, the X Line Energy Z has a top layer that controls tread stiffness and stress to reduce irregular wear, decoupling grooves and directional miniature sipes to promote even tire wear, and a bottom layer to help provide ultra-fuel efficiency and retreadability.
According to Michelin, the X Line Energy Z tire can be combined the following tires for a complete SmartWay line-haul solution:
• Dual Applications — Michelin X Line Energy Z steer tire, Michelin X Line Energy D drive tire and Michelin X Line Energy T trailer tire.
• Wide Base Applications — Michelin X Line Energy Z steer tire, Michelin X One Line Energy D drive tire and Michelin X One Line Energy T trailer tire.
The tire comes with Michelin’s 7/7/3 manufacturer’s limited casing warranty and will be available March 1 in sizes 11R22.5, 275/80R22.5, 11R24.5 and 275/80R24.5 in both G and H load ranges.
