Kumho Tire has begun to apply the radio-frequency identification (RFID) system on its half-finished products in its domestic plants – marking the very first time a manufacturer has done so, according to a report by BusinessKorea.
The tiremaker began placing RFID tags on completed TBR tires in 2013; it added passenger tires to the system last year.
By placing tags on half-finished products, Kumho will be able to access information about a product’s location, storage and release history, and inventory management. With the system, Kumho expects to have more thorough quality control, according to BusinessKorea.
