Ohio-based K&M Tire Inc. continues to expand into the Midwest with the acquisition of Midwest Tire & Muffler Inc.
“This acquisition will allow us to grow our customer base in North and South Dakota and to better serve some of our current customers in these areas,” said Cheryl Gossard, K&M Tire vice president. “We’re very excited about this opportunity. Customer service is our number one priority and we’re looking forward to serving our new customers in these areas with our expansive product offering and dependable deliveries.”
Midwest Tire & Muffler Inc. has three distribution centers in Sioux Falls and Rapid City, S.D., and a location in Bismarck, N.D. K&M plans to consolidate the Bismarck warehouse into its own 50,000-square-foot distribution center. The addition of the two South Dakota locations totals K&M’s distribution centers to 20 centers in more than 20 states.
All the Midwest Tire sales and warehouse staff will become K&M Tire employees, including Midwest Tire co-owner Dwayne Rydell, according to an open letter from Midwest Tire co-owner Larry Haley.
The buyout went into effect Oct. 5, and financial terms were not revealed. K&M Tire said it continues to look for growth opportunities in Midwest and Southwest regions of the U.S.
