U.K. tire safety campaign group TyreSafe has announced the Highways Agency has become a full member, following its endorsement of last October’s tire safety month campaign. By becoming a full member, the Highways Agency will be represented at the group’s regular board meetings, helping to improve dialogue and collaboration between the organisations, says TyreSafe.
“We have been working increasingly closely with the Highways Agency to raise awareness about tire safety issues over the last two years,” explains Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe. “Through this relationship we have established a number of other key partnerships and initiated some very successful activities. By formalizing our relationship, I am confident that this will help accelerate our activities, raise awareness levels even further and help to save even more lives.”
Stuart Lovatt, road safety action plan coordinator at the Highways Agency, added: “We are delighted to have been invited to formally join TyreSafe. We look forward to building upon our existing relationship and helping to improve the attitudes and behaviours of drivers toward tire care.”
Also joining the ranks of TyreSafe is another tire manufacturer, Infinity Tyres. The tiremaker says it will “use its industry knowledge to assist TyreSafe in a wide range of campaigns” aimed at improving road safety. “TyreSafe plays a vital part in making our roads a safer place, so we are delighted to be new members,” explained Jorge Crespo, European general manager, Infinity Tyres. “With our industry knowledge and insight, I believe we can help play an important role in raising awareness about the importance of tire safety.”
Jackson added that “with a wealth of expertise, and an ongoing commitment to tire research and development, Infinity will be a valuable addition to the organisation and help make our campaigns even more effective.” (Tyres & Accessories)
