Dunlop Aircraft Tyres unit in the U.K. has bought the testing and manufacturing equipment from Yokohama Rubber Co., which exited the aircraft tire business last year.
Under a deal signed and announced on Feb. 25, Dunlop Aircraft Tyres is buying Yokohama’s radial and bias tire manufacturing and testing equipment, including a dynamometer that a Dunlop official said will help the company to bring new products to market more quickly.
The move will expand Dunlop’s manufacturing capacity so that the Birmingham, England-based company can start making products such as radial main tires for the Boeing 777.
