Discount Tire, the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) and NASCAR’s Team Penske have once again teamed up to provide new efforts to educate drivers on proper tire care during National Tire Safety Week on May 29-June 4.
In preparation for Memorial Day travel, Discount Tire and the RMA are encouraging drivers to do their “PART” with regular tire checks, including:
Pressure – Checking tire pressure once a month or before a trip using a tire pressure gauge.
Alignment – Get wheels aligned to avoid uneven tread wear.
Rotation – Have tires rotated every 6,000 miles to prevent irregular tire wear.
Tread – Check tread with the penny trick: stick a penny upside-down in a tread groove, if Lincoln’s head is visible it’s time to replace the tires.
During National Tire Safety Week, Discount Tire will also dedicate a service bay at each tire store to free tire pressure checks. Additionally, Discount Tire will offer customer’s savings of up to $320 on new tire and wheel packages through credit and mail-in rebates.
In coordination with RMA’s Be Tire Smart campaign, Discount Tire No. 22 NASCAR drivers Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano will be the featured voices in nationwide radio PSAs that educate motorists on the importance of proper tire pressure.
