The Fayetteville Observer is reporting that the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. plant in Fayetteville, N.C., could be eliminating 30 to 40 salaried jobs.
An anonymous source told the paper that 30 workers in his department were being laid off. He also said he was familiar with another four to six employees outside his department being cut.
“We have a choice of retiring, layoff or doing the same job for an outsourced company called Innosource,” he said. “No holidays or vacation are given. They gave us only nine days to decide. We will get 13 weeks unemployment or 26 weeks if we sign a waiver not to sue Goodyear.”
Tire Review reached out to Goodyear to confirm the Fayetteville Observer’s report.
“We are aware of the story in Fayetteville and as reported, this is a part of our constant review of staffing requirements to help our facilities remain competitive while delivering the highest quality of products for our customers,” a Goodyear spokesperson told Tire Review.
