Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.’s plant in Texarkana, Ark., has earned a Gold level Superior Energy Performance (SEP) certification from the U.S. Department of Energy.
The SEP certification requires facilities to meet an International Organization Standardization (ISO) 50001 as well as measure and verify energy performance improvement, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. Cooper’s Texarkana facility meet these standards and earn a Gold distinction by improving energy performance by more than 10% over three years, the tiremaker said.
“As part of our overall sustainability efforts, Cooper is committed to reducing energy usage at all of our facilities worldwide,” said Tom Wood, Cooper’s director of global environmental affairs. “We are proud that our Texarkana plant has earned SEP Gold certification, a significant accomplishment that requires innovative thinking, targeted goal setting, effective execution and continued measurement of performance with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.”
