“In challenging times we want to add mutual value to our customers. Thus MINExpo gives us an excellent opportunity to show our customers that Continental can indeed supply their needs with an all-inclusive portfolio of products and services,” said Enno Straten, Continental’s managing director of Commercial Specialty Tires.

Conti will roll out two new earthmoving tires and four underground mining tires during the event. In addition, the tiremaker will showcase three truck tires.

The four new mining tires are the Continental UndergroundMaster, DrillMaster, DumperMaster, and ScoopMaster.

“The tires were specifically designed for the extreme conditions our customers are facing in the underground mining sector,” said Christian Luther, product line manager of earthmover tires at Continental.

The Continental UndergroundMaster is designed for vehicles used in room-and-pillar applications such as shuttle cars, scoops and face haulers for extracting and transporting minerals. The tire’s V.ply technology offers high carcass strength and the reverse outer block direction of the tire pattern improves lateral stability and driving accuracy, ensuring safe cornering even on loose soil, Conti said.

Designed for use on drill rigs, scalers, bolters and other service vehicles, the Continental DrillMaster offers a cut-resistant carcass to protect the tire from freshly blasted rocks. Additionally, the tire carcass is designed to stand heavy loads, and a  zigzag tread design offers a maximum amount of gripping edges to assist on steep inclines and tight cornering safely.

The Continental DumperMaster, designed for mine trucks, features an all-steel radial carcass that allows extremely high load-carrying capacity, Conti said. The tread pattern is self-cleaning and offers traction in muddy and loose ground conditions.

The ScoopMaster, for use on loaders and scoops, is designed to operate in harsh underground mining environments. The tread and sidewall rubber compounds provide maximum resistance to rock cutting, penetrations, and tearing Conti said.  Additionally, the V.ply construction, in combination with rubber compounds, provides carcass strength, flex fatigue, and sidewall damage resistance, and the extra deep L5S tread design offers additional carcass protection and high wear volume, the tiremaker said.

Continental RDT-Master

The two earthmoving tires showcased at the show include the Continental EM-Master and the Continental RDT-Master.

Continental EM-Master, for ADTs, loaders and dozers, offers two different tread designs.

The EM-Master E3/L3 features a normal tread depth and wide spacing between the blocks, offering self-cleaning characteristics, traction, and maneuverability, Conti said. Additionally, the normal tread depth offers better cooling characteristics.

The Continental EM-Master E4/L4 features a greater block size with less spacing between the blocks and a deeper tread depth. The tire has high carcass protection and superior cutting resistance, Conti said. Additionally, the smaller tread block spacing results in smooth running and the tread offers high tread wear volume.

Both Continental EM-Master E3/L3 and E4/L4 will be available in the sizes 23.5R25, 26.5R25 and 29.5R25. The Continental EM-Master E3/L3 will be additionally available in the size 20.5R25.

Designed for rigid dump trucks, the Continental RDT-Master is designed with a deep tread depth and a wide and flat tread radius to offer a high loading capacity and cutting resistance. The angled tread edges facilitate high lateral stability which results in better driving behavior and the open tread design offers self-cleaning characteristics, Conti said.

The RDT-Master E4 is available in the sizes 18.00R33, 21.00R33 and 24.00R35.

Continental will also showcase three new on/off road tires. Among the lineup are the HCS and HTC1 all position tires and the HDC1 HT drive tire. All three products are designed to handle the demands of heavy construction service.

The HCS is a heavy construction service all-position tire designed for on/off road, mining and heavy mix axle applications, Conti said. The structure and geometry of the HCS tread pattern gives this tire traction even in the harshest terrain.

The HTC1, which stands for Heavy Trailer Construction, is an all-position wide base tire designed for on/off road with mixed service applications. The tire offers an aggressive tread pattern for traction and a cut and tear resistant compound for long road life.

The HDC1 HT drive tire is designed for severe on/off road applications. The tire is built on the Conti 3G casing for maximum retreadability and the rigid belt package with a full width top belt and extra sidewall protection gives the HDC1 HT durability.  Additionally, the tire features a diamond shaped tread lug design and shoulder notches for optimal chaining, Conti shared.
