Continental Tire the Americas commercial vehicle tire group has teamed up with Saskatchewan, Canada-based Quality Tire Service to open the first commercial tire retread facility in western Canada.
The new 17,400 square-foot-facility will operate as a ContiLifeCycle facility and will employ 15 people, the tiremaker said. As a ContiLifeCycle, the facility will start with new Continental tires and work with ContiTread premium retread to prolong tire life and lower costs of the tire.
Continental said the new facility has the capacity to produce up to 24,000 retreads per year and will be outfitted with new equipment and the latest technologies for manufacturing retreads, exclusively for Manitoba and Saskatchewan provinces and their more than 200 customers.
The Saskatoon facility is the first ContiLifeCycle plant in western Canada. Continental said more ContiLifeCycle plants are planned for the region as the company wishes to expand ContiLifeCycle in Canada.
