The California governor signed into law last week legislation that requires employers to provide paid sick leave to their employees.
Starting July 2015, employees who’ve worked for at least 30 days must be provided one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employees must be permitted to begin using their accrued sick leave at least 90 days from hire. Employers, however, can limit the amount of time an employee can take paid sick leave in a year to 24 hours, according to the law.
Connecticut is the only other state to require paid sick leave.
