Bridgestone TPMS Getting Euro Roll Out

Following the demonstration of its new TPMS system at the Vienna-based "e-Safety Challenge 2011" event on May 31, Bridgestone Europe has announced plans to roll out its commercial vehicle system across Europe during the course of this year. The system is being rolled out as a tool within Bridgestone’s Total Fleet Management package.

“Pressure maintenance is critical to keeping our roads safe. Often it is running at low pressure for a prolonged period of time that causes tires to finally fail,” commented Neil Purves, automation systems manager at Bridgestone Europe.

The TPMS system Bridgestone is introducing across Europe features a patented valve with a unique radio frequency (RF) unit. Specific valves are available for commercial vehicles and passenger cars. These RF units emit the tire pressure, temperature and unique identification number every four seconds, giving the unit a lifespan of a minimum of three years. Using either detector gates mounted at the fleet premises or handheld data-collection units, vehicle maintenance managers can receive targeted pressure alerts that enable them to quickly react before low pressure turns into a tire failure.
