After leading his union through a brutal three-month lockout at Cooper Tire & Rubber Co.'s Findlay, Ohio, tire plant, USW Local 207 president Rod Nelson was re-elected to that post.
Nelson received 311 votes from Local 207 membership, according to the Findlay Courier, or nearly 47% of all votes cast. Two opponents for the three-year term received 186 and 167 votes, respectively.
For Nelson, this will be his third term as head of the local.
The lockout ended on Feb. 27 when the union voted 627 to 321 to accept the tiremaker’s five-year contract offer. It began after Local 207 members on Nov. 28, 2011, overwhelmingly voted down a tentative contract that the union negotiating team recommended.
