Kumho Tire USA Inc. has signed on as the presenting sponsor for ESPN Dallas' fourth annual youth soccer tournament, the Copa ESPN 2012.
Spanning the course of three days, consisting of 72 teams and more than 1,000 youth soccer players, the Copa ESPN 2012 is expected to draw thousands of spectators from across Texas and beyond.
Funds and in-kind sponsorships comprise the presenting sponsor designation.
Kumho Tire USA said it decided to make the contribution to Copa ESPN 2012 as it highlights some of the country’s top young athletes.
“Kumho is very excited to be a part of Copa ESPN 2012 to provide kids of all ages the opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against some of the best soccer teams in the region,” said Rick Brennan, vice president of marketing. “Events such as this allow us to be a part of soccer and to support the burgeoning sport here in the U.S. on a grassroots level. The kids playing in the Copa ESPN could very well be the next big name soccer superstars in just a few years.”
The three-day event Copa ESPN feature the area’s best recreational and select teams at the McInnish Soccer Complex in Carrollton, Texas. The invitation-only event for players will consist of 72 teams in six age categories (under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18). At the end of the tournament, Copa ESPN will send the championship team from the under-14 category to Orlando for the Disney Cup International, taking place July 16 to 21.
During the three-day tournament, Kumho will be signing up new Facebook fans (facebook.com/kumhotire) and assisting them in entering the live contests. Kumho Facebook followers in the Dallas area but not at the Copa ESPN 2012 will also have the opportunity to interact and participate in contests to win prizes.
