Bridgestone Retail Operations (BSRO) recently presented a check for $873,323 to Meals On Wheels Association of America through its Round Up Program, an in-store fundraising campaign.

"We are proud of our teammates across the country who played a key part in helping to combat senior hunger by raising awareness of this issue and of our customers for their support of this important cause," said Matt Hoskins, president of BSRO.

Through the program, BSRO’s company-owned stores nationwide, including Firestone Complete Auto Care, ExpertTire, Tires Plus and Wheel Works, asked customers to make a charitable donation by rounding up their invoices to the nearest dollar. For seven months, Meals on Wheels was the beneficiary of the campaign.

Earlier in 2011, BSRO also completed a two-month, in-store campaign for the Pediatric Cancer Foundation, a non-profit organization working to fast track a cure for pediatric cancer through a research initiative called The Sunshine Project. The program raised $227,954 for the foundation.

“We are proud to say that we helped raise more than $1 million in 2011 to deserving charities nationwide,” said Hoskins. “Along with the continuing support of our generous customers and devoted teammates throughout 2012, we remain steadfast in our commitment to give back to the communities that we call home.”

BSRO added 62 new tire and automotive service locations across the country in 2011, also contributing more than $50,000 to local charities in the communities of those new locations.
