Titan Tire will use the former Goodyear plant in Union City, Tenn., which it purchased for $9 million last September, to produce and redistribute materials to other company facilities.
The operations at the plant - squeezing rubber onto nylon and polyester and blending rubber and steel strands used in tire belts - will create 300 jobs by year’s end, Titan Tire Chairman Bill Campbell told local media.
The 43-year-old Goodyear plant, with 1,800 employees, had been Obion County’s largest employer.
