Michelin Americas Truck Tires is introducing two new tires for on/off road applications. The Michelin X Works XDY commercial truck tire is designed for exceptional traction and wear in on/off road applications, the tiremaker said, while the new Michelin XDY-EX2 tire is an aggressive drive-axle tire for extreme operating conditions, such as logging, oil fields and mining. Both tires feature maximum sidewall protection with aggressive tread designs to enhance traction and durability.
The X Works XDY provides a 10% mileage improvement when compared with the company’s XDY3 tire, according to Michelin. A top tread layer of chip and tear resistant compounds with a cool base tread layer help to maximize tread and casing life, the company said. The tire is available in 11R22.5 and 11R24.5 sizes.
The XDY-EX2 tire improves on the previous XDY-EX tire, offering better off-road and mud traction from an aggressive tread design with more void area, the tiremaker noted. Extra-thick sidewalls provide protection from the shocks, snags and impacts typically associated with severe service. The tire is available in 11R24.5 size.
