Michelin North Americas said its Michelin XZUS2 next-generation tire for refuse applications offers a 20% increase in wear life compared with its predecessor. The new tire, available in a 315/80R22.5 size, provides a scrub-resistant compound for long tread life and a cool base tread compound to reduce temperatures in the crown area and preserve the casing. The tire features a robust shoulder design and protector ribs, and a bead design that improves retreadability, Michelin added. The company’s XZUS pre-mold retread line now includes a new 280 size to extend the tire lifecycle in refuse applications.
