Yokohama Tire Corp. said its new Avid ENVigor is the first to offer consumers the ideal blend of all-season performance, low rolling resistance, smooth comfort and long treadlife. In fact, the company said, because the tire delivers all the performance and environmental attributes in a single tire, a new category had to be created for it: grand performance.

It goes on sale in March 2010 in 69 sizes, making it one of the largest tire launches in the company’s history.

“ENVigor is unlike any product the industry has developed to date,” said Dan King, Yokohama vice president of sales and marketing. “It provides excellent traction and handling, enhanced comfort and treadlife – all while delivering remarkable gas mileage. It’s quite possibly the most complete tire ever created.”
Avid ENVigor

The tire features Adaptive 3D sipes that help maintain water and winter traction; angled groove walls and circumferential grooves that resist hydroplaning; a tapered center rib and unibloc shoulder for stiffness; a six-pitch tread variation for reduced pattern noise; groove-in-groove technology for reduced uneven wear; and an all-new silica compound for excellent fuel efficiency, according to Yokohama.

Designed for a broad range of vehicles – including entry-level and luxury coupes, sedans and SUVs – the ENVigor will replace Yokohama’s Avid H4s/V4s and W4 tires. It will go on sale in March in 69 sizes ranging from 15- to 20-inch rim diameters.

I put these on my '07 Lexus ES350 3 weeks ago. I am having the same problem as Drob's comment on 3/8/10. At speeds of 65-75 the steering wheel just starts to vibrate. Took it back to the tire store and they replaced the left front tire. Said it had a bump in it. They then re-balanced all of the tires and I still have the vibration. There was absolutely NO VIBRATION with the Michelins that came off.

you can't leave a remark from CR when they dont have any of these tires to test yet I was just on CR 8-25-10 there are no results for this tire in there data base yet.

tire rack said they are great tires with good handling, anti hydroplaning qualities and good in snow and on ice.

can Anyone confirm if they are good on snow and ice? I am putting them on a mustang GT

I don't think Consumer Reports has reviewed this particular tire. It hasn't been out long enough to get into their testing pipeline. I searched the CR online database and didn't find anything. Also, since these were first released in March 2010, I doubt that Drob has ENVigors on his ES 350.

'm planning to put a set of these on my 2005 Acura RL next week. From all the reviews they sound like a good bet. Discount Tire is extending the treadwear warranty to 60k miles, and they have a 30 day full refund return policy if I don't like them.

I've had my Yokohama Avid Envigor . Size 245/45/20 for one day. So can't say too much yet . I've had good luck with Yokohama tires for 20 years. Have a set ov Avid S 4 245/50/18 on my wifes Chrysler 300 C . They have been on her car 3 years now . And have been very good . I e-mailed Yokohama several times last year . Asking them to make them in 20 inch for my new 09 Challenger R/T 6 speed. So I was happy when they made this new tire to fit my Challenger . I had put Nitto 420S on the car for better traction . Which they were much better than the Good Year that came on it . But very poor in rain or snow. I'm glad to take them off the car. The Envogor handles good and quite so far. Only time will tell about this new tire.

Consumer Reports says that the gas mileage is not so good.

It does not have a good rolling resistance.

What if you put more air in the tires-would this help

good tires, fine on dry and wet....Don't get into any slush and snow!

Great tire so far but it's only been 5 days. Quiet as heck, smooth, great traction on take off, waiting for the rain to put them to the test on wet pavement. I like the look of them too. So far, so great.

Dave, the reason ur back tires are worn is because your car is rear-wheel drive and you've been using applying the gas liberally. Yokohama makes very good tires, people just beat on them too often.

Bought 4 advan Sport tires last April for my 745i BMW and the tires have less than 14,000 kms. I swear I'm not an aggressive driver but the back tires are down to the wear bars already the fronts are fine. How can this be?

I've got the 225-45-17 a month ago. The grip on these tires is amazing, they perform great in wet conditions, and corner better than any tire I've had. However, the extra load makes them way to hard hard. It makes the ride on my 2003 Jetta really harsh. Will be changing them soon for something more comfortable.

This are great tires that I've had for a couple of weeks now. They're quiet riding with excellent handling and low noise level. If your vehicle has vibration issues, then it's likely that they were not installed properly, or your rims are damaged and your old tires were worn in a way to compensate for the rim problems.

So far- I've had my tires for a day and they are smooth, handling is great, handles well on rainy surfaces. I hope the fuel efficiency is actual - we will see.

Balancing problem?

avatar   Drob   star   3/8/2010   8:35 PM

I have these tires on my ES 350 and they are horrible. VERY bumpy ride at high speed. The steering wheel just vibrates. I wish I had my old tires.

They were fairly cheap but I am not like
