Building on its continuing relationship, Hungary has named a senior official of Hankook Tire Co. as its honorary consul to South Korea.

The appointment of Hankook Vice President Cho Hyun-shick to the post by Hungarian Vice Foreign Minister Laszlo Varkonyi was in recognition of the company's contribution to Hungary’s economic growth.

Hankook invested $479 million to build a tire plant in the city of Dunaujvaros, and has undertaken further expansion of the plant.

In this new role, Cho will work with the Hungarian government to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in economic, tourism, cultural and academic sectors.
