A Dupo, Ill., tire dealer is being sued by an area woman who claims she was injured when she tripped over the door mat.

Cecelia Slack filed a lawsuit April 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against C&M Tire Inc./Cross Midwest Warehouse & Retread.

The woman claims she was a customer of the tire store in June 2010 when she tried to leave the building and tripped on the floor mat by the door, injuring her hand and wrist. The doormat, she claimed in the suit, was defective and, therefore, to blame for the injuries.

The dealer, she contends, was at fault for using the allegedly defective mat.

Slack is seeking more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.
